  • They were very well matched by an excellent 3 course Italian meal prepared by Chris French.
  • A challenging quiz on the Italian theme, set by Nina Punt was won by Chris and John French and friends.

Wysall Christmas Fayre –26th November 2011

Christmas

The Christmas Fair was another great success this year with over 130 people coming through the door:

  • The children from Costock opened the fair with carols, which as usual were lovely.  The many stalls seemed to be very busy and the atmosphere was jovial and festive.
  • The coffee and mince pies were much appreciated as was the delicious soup, all made by members of the village hall committee.
  • The amount raised this year was approximately £1080 with maybe a little more to come.

Mary Elston would like to say a big thankyou:

To everyone who donated gifts for the hamper and the stalls, without which it would not have been such a success.

  • To members of the village hall committee and other parishioners for their help and commitment.
  • A special thankyou to Jackie Cameron who collected and made up the beautiful hamper which was the main prize of the raffle.  The total hamper contents were worth in excess of £200.
  • A special thankyou to Gill Berridge who did most of the work in organising the fair, sorting out the layout of the hall, putting up the notices around the village and collecting names and pictures for the tea towel including the drawing of the church (thankyou to Pat Roberts).
  • Finally thankyou to everyone who attended and wish all a very Happy Christmas.

Water Tower Bucket Boys ‘sell-out’ success – 16 September 2011

Water Tower Bucket Boys

Well what a night this was a complete sell out the hall was bursting at the seams. The 4 guys from Portland Oregon USA entertained us with some toe tapping stuff. Not to be forgotten but definitely to be repeated.

If the hall had been twice the size we would have been dancing too.

Tug O War, followed and we can see Ken Millar closely inspecting the rope and David poised with the whistle, and it was all systems GO.

Thanks also go to Jane Harris for providing the equipment, without which it wouldn’t happen. Not forgetting David Roberts who oversees us with his whistle and stop watch.

As if this wasn’t enough it was off to the field for a game of rounder’s, lots of shouting, and encouraging for individuals to make it to the next post.

It was back to the Village Hall for a well earned burger and sausage thank you to Mary & Chris only just back from a long haul flight kindly cooking for us.
